McKinney Avenue Trolley Stops for Upgrades

Trolley service to resume in October

A ride-the-rails method to get around the Uptown Neighborhood in Dallas has been suspended during upgrades to the old-style trolley system.

The McKinney Avenue Transit Authority said trolley service was halted Tuesday and won't resume until October.

Transit officials cite rail construction for improvements that will lead to direct trolley service to Klyde Warren Park in downtown Dallas. The above-a-highway park connects the Uptown Neighborhood to the Dallas Arts District.

The restored McKinney Avenue trolleys provide public transportation free of charge. The nonprofit transit authority operates vintage trolleys named Rosie, Green Dragon, Matilda and Petunia.
