Passengers at DFW Airport appear to be sticking with American Airlines, at least for now.
"We did check other airlines, scared there would be delays, but ended up going with American anyways" said Kari Seymore of Lewisville, who said American was cheaper than other carriers.
Travel agents say many clients are concerned about American’s delays and cancellations, with many now considering other carriers and holding off buying their tickets.
"Especially vacation travelers," said Catherine Banks at Legacy Travel in Plano. "I think are kind of watching like what’s going to happen here before they jump into a commitment."
In a statement, American Airlines spokesman Bruce Hicks said "it's too early to tell" whether bookings are down at the airline, adding "we are working very hard to meet out customers needs."
Southwest Airlines says it has not seen any significant spike in bookings, suggested passengers aren’t leaving American for other carriers – at least not yet.
Farecompare’s Rick Seaney, who found himself on a couple of delayed flights this week, said savvy business travelers may simply be choosing earlier flights to offset any possible delays.
"If you’re a business traveler and you got a meeting at 10 o’clock next Tuesday, you’re going 'wow, maybe I should go Monday night so I can make sure I get that meeting' instead of trying to arrive at 9 before" said Seaney.
