Authorities said a man is dead and a woman is injured after a fire at a Fort Worth apartment complex Thursday night.

Fort Worth firefighters said they responded to a call about the fire at the Brazos Apartments in the 6600 block of South Hulen Street at about 8:50 p.m.

While searching of one of the homes, firefighters said they found the man with severe burns. He was transported to Parkland Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased at 10:11 p.m.

The woman had escaped the fire, but also sustained potentially serious burns. She was also transported to Parkland, where she remains in critical condition.

Two units were heavily damaged by fire and two units sustained smoke damage. More than 30 were without power.

About 10 residents were displaced by the fire, according to officials. The American Red Cross provided temporary shelter and other services.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by Fort Worth Fire Department arson investigators.
