Man Who Stabbed Sister-in-Law Sentenced to Life

A man who stabbed his sister-in-law more than 40 times was found guilty of capital murder and sentenced to life without parole.

The Dallas Morning News reported Saturday that a jury deliberated just more than two hours Friday night before finding 26-year-old Edgar Murga guilty of capital murder in the death of 32-year-old Alma Arenas-Perez. The judge gave Murga a life sentence.

Murga stabbed Arenas-Perez in her east Oak Cliff home in June 2009. He then slashed the throat of his 6-year-old niece, the woman's daughter. The girl, now 8, survived and testified against him in court.
