Man Surrenders After Hours on High 5 Ledge

The Dallas Police Department spent hours talking a man off the ledge of the High Five interchange Monday afternoon.

Dallas police received a call about a man on a ledge of Interstate 635 and U.S. Highway 75 at about 1:30 p.m., police said. The man was threatening to take his own life.

Officers blocked off all of the streets and ramps leading to the man’s location, police said. Officers made contact with the man and called for a negotiator.

The negotiation lasted three and a half hours until the man, whose identity has not been released, surrendered.

All roadways in the area opened soon after the man's surrender.

The man was transported to Medical City Hospital for medical evaluation.
