Man Shot, Body Found Near Wrecked Pickup: Fort Worth Police

Fort Worth police are investigating the discovery of a man's body near a wrecked pickup truck.

At about 3:30 a.m. Sunday gunshots were heard in a south Fort Worth neighborhood.

"This is the first time this has happened," said Mary Rodriguez, who lives near the shooting. "For me to see that dead guy over there for hours, it just terrified me."

A man was shot multiple times and killed, according to Fort Worth police. His body was found in field just several feet away from a wrecked pickup truck off of Wichita Street.

On Monday, the Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office identified the man as 35-year-old Jorge Aguilar from Fort Worth.

"This is a nice neighborhood," said Rodriguez.

Police searched the area for evidence, looking for clues about the killer and what led up to the shooting.

"At this point the homicide unit is leading the investigation," said Daniel Segura, an officer with the Fort Worth Police Department. "We are trying to contact every person that heard or saw [something] on this case."

Now the field is empty, except for a cross that was placed where Aguilar's body was found.

"It's very sad," said Rodriguez. "But what can you do?"
