Man Sentenced For Sexual Assaults on Disabled Women

A Hawkins man has been sentenced to prison over the sexual assault of two mentally disabled women at a facility where he worked.

A judge in Quitman on Tuesday ordered two 20-year prison terms for 63-year-old James Owen Spurlock. The terms must be served concurrently. Spurlock in December pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated sexual assault.

Investigators said the sexual assaults happened, over several months, in Hawkins at a privately owned living facility for people with mental disabilities.

The Tyler Morning Telegraph, in its online edition Wednesday, reported the home was in the process of closing when the allegations surfaced.

Spurlock worked as a maintenance man.
