Man Jumps Into Lake, Eludes Police

Man believed to be stealing gasoline escapes capture

A man believed to have stolen gasoline jumped into a north Fort Worth lake overnight to escape police.

The night watchman at the Harbor One Marina of Eagle Mountain Lake told NBC 5 that he found some boats while he was walking along the docks that he said looked "messed with."

The man then called the Tarrant County Regional Water District Police to come investigate.

When officers arrived at about 3:20 a.m., they found a man along the docks holding a gasoline canister.

The man then ran away and, after a short chase, jumped into the lake and disappeared.

Officers used boats with search lights, and walked along the docks and shoreline in their effort to find the man.

As of this writing, the man has not been found.
