Man Faces Murder Charge in Fatal Shooting in South Dallas

A 58-year-old man was arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a man who was found at a South Dallas apartment Monday morning, police said.

Dwight Manning faces a murder charge. He is being held at the Dallas County Lew Sterrett Jail.

Dallas police and fire crews responded about 2 a.m. to the 2900 block of Holmes Street for a welfare check. Crews found the man inside the apartment with apparent gun shot wounds, police said.

During the investigation, homicide detectives determined the suspect was responsible for the murder, police said. Detectives learned of his whereabouts and he was taken into custody, police said. In interviews with police, Dwight admitted to killing the victim, police said.

It's unclear when the shooting occurred. The victim's name has not been released.
