Man Found Dead After Dallas House Fire

A man was killed in an early-morning house fire Friday, Dallas Fire-Rescue said.

According to family members, a father and son, Joe Yates Jr. and Sr., lived at the home on the 6700 block of Keswick Drive.

Firefighters were called to the home at about 3 a.m. Friday and, upon arrival, found heavy fire showing through the roof.

Crews had to remove metal bars from the windows and doors before they could gain entry into the home to fight the fire. It took fire crews about 30 minutes to get the fire under control once they were able to get inside.

With the fire under control, firefighters found one of the men, 29-year-old Joe Jr., dead inside.  The victim's father, Joe Sr., was not at home at the time.

Though the Dallas County medical examiner has not revealed the man's identity, the family of the victim shared the his name with NBC 5.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
