Man Dies After Being Hit by TRE Train

A man was killed after he was hit by a Trinity Railway Express train in Dallas Friday morning.

Mark Ball, spokesman for Dallas Area Rapid Transit, said the man was struck around 9:30 a.m. between Medical/Market Center and Victory Station.

Ball said the adult male was trespassing on a bridge that pedestrians are not allowed to be on and was struck by the passing train in the TRE train's transit area.

The man was taken to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas and was pronounced dead just before 11 a.m.

DART officials said Dallas police took over the area as a crime scene as of 10:30 a.m. and will handle the remainder of the investigation into the man's death.

No injuries were reported by passengers on the train, but DART officials said the passengers may have to be questioned because they witnessed the incident.

DART said they have already spoken to the train operator who told investigators he didn't believe the incident was a suicide.
