Man Captured for Deadly Park Attack

The man suspected of a 2012 attack at a South Texas park that left a woman dead and her girlfriend hurt has been captured near San Antonio.

The San Patricio County Sheriff's Office on Saturday said 27-year-old David Malcom Strickland faces transfer to the jail in Sinton.

Officers on Friday arrested Strickland at an apartment in Helotes, 10 miles northwest of San Antonio. Strickland faces warrants for capital murder, aggravated assault with a weapon and aggravated sexual assault.

Investigators say two teens were sexually assaulted and shot at a park in Portland, near Corpus Christi, in June 2012. The victims were discovered by people passing by.

Investigators say 19-year-old Mollie Olgin of Ingleside died. An 18-year-old woman was critically injured but survived.

Further details on Strickland weren't immediately available Saturday.
