A man was charged with aggravated assault and assault with a deadly weapon/family violence after barricading himself and his 3-year-old son in his home for four hours, according to Mansfield police.
At approximately 6 p.m. on Friday, a man brought his wife to one of the Mansfield Fire stations to get her medical assistance from injuries he claimed she sustained from falling, according to Mansfield police.
The man, 44-year-old Aaron Redmond, left his wife at the fire station; further investigation led police to believe her injuries were sustained in a domestic dispute, caused by Redmond, at her home.
The woman was transported to a local hospital and treated for her injuries.
Police officers then went to their residence, near the 1100 block of Doubletree Lane, where they said the man barricaded himself inside the home with their son.
Redmond was said to have weapons and refused to exit his house, according to police.
Mansfield SWAT and the Negotiation Unit were then called to the scene.
At approximately 10:30 p.m. on Friday, Redmond was taken into custody without further incident.
According to police, his son was uninjured.
