Man Arrested in Police Cruiser Shooting: DPD

Dallas police say they have arrested the man accused of putting at least 10 bullet holes in a patrol car.

Officers tried to pull over a small sedan in the 500 block of South Llewellyn Avenue in Oak Cliff last Thursday, one man got out of the car and started shooting at the officers at least 10 times. Several of those bullets hit the squad car. The officers were not hurt.

Thursday night, police said Everardo Trevino fired the shots.

"Trevino said he took those actions to avoid being arrested. Trevino was not wanted at the time of the shooting, detectives continue to investigate his participation in other offenses," said Dallas police Maj. Jeff Cotner.

Court records show Trevino served four years in prison for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in 2004.

He's currently in the Dallas County Jail charged with aggravated assault of a public servant.
