Little Elm Girl Gets Trip to Hawaii From Make-A-Wish

A Little Elm girl will be getting on a plane to Hawaii soon. It was her wish after battling Hodgkin's Lymphoma.

Lauren Ganim and her family headed to dinner at an Italian restaurant, but inside waiting for them was a luau. A big send-off from the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

"I have never been to Hawaii, I have heard so many things about it. I just want to go and see how beautiful it is," said Lauren Ganim.

Friday night was all about Hawaii and granting a little girl's wish.

"They have been through so much this is their time to relax and enjoy," said Make-A-Wish volunteer Dennis Baird.

Ganim is not only taking her family with her, but wanted to make sure her best friend Carly could go as well.

"This is why I wanted to take her, because she has been there with me the whole time," said Ganim.

Ganim says when she started chemotherapy and it was time for her to cut her hair, Carly cut hers too. They both donate their hair to Locks of Love.

"It is something you hope nobody ever has to go through, to watch their child be sick go through that,"  said Lauren's mother Janel Ganim. "So it was nice, something to look forward to, knowing there was a light at the end of the tunnel."

Ganim is now cancer-free and hopes to give back and volunteer with Make-A-Wish to help other kids.

"I could help them and tell them what I have been through and tell them you are going to get through this," said Lauren Ganim. "Help them feel better while they are sick and try to do the best I can to make them happy."

The Ganims leave for Hawaii early Tuesday morning.
