Police said a lightning strike sparked a fire at a Denton County home early Monday morning.
The family who lives in a home in the 1200 block of Spanish Moss Trail in Aubrey told NBC 5 that they heard a loud noise and then saw flames at about 2 a.m.
The Denton fire chief confirmed that lightning struck the home.
The couple made it out of the home safely, but the house sustained significant damage.
