A Flower Mound house was heavily damaged by fire that was likely caused by a lightning strike, officials say.
The fire was reported at about 8 p.m. as a line of strong storms moved through North Texas, bringing plenty of lightning and strong wind gusts Friday evening.
Nobody was home at the time of the fire, and a neighbor alerted the homeowner about what was happening.
The storms also brought periods of heavy rainfall, as a cold front approaches from the Red River that will drop high temperatures on Saturday back into the 80s.
As of 9 p.m., Oncor was reporting more than 15,000 customers without power across North Texas, with about half of those in Dallas County.
Several flights were delayed by about 90 minutes at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport following the storms.
