Lewisville Community Returns After Evacuations; Surveys Damage

A community in Lewisville returned home to survey damage after rising flood waters forced neighbors from their homes Friday.

Authorities expected flood waters to begin subsiding as area lakes began to crest, or reach their maximum depths.

"I moved here in '91; never had this before," said Charles Cole, a resident at the Creekside Mobile Home Park in Lewisville. "We're not stressed, there's nothing to worry about."

Only one family displaced from the mobile home park used the city's temporary shelter Friday night, but other families evacuated to the homes of family and friends.

Approximately 171 people were without electricity Saturday afternoon, authorities said.

Flood waters in Grapevine have forced the closure of Farm-to-Market Road 2499, a major travel route for Flower Mound and Grapevine residents. Authorities rescued a woman from her flooded car after she attempted to bypass police barricades Saturday afternoon, police said.

She was later arrested on a charge of disobeying a traffic control system, a class B misdemeanor.

NBC 5's Tim Ciesco contributed to this report.
