Latest “Evening Burglar” Victim Speaks Out

Latest victim talks about how police found and arrested possible ‘Evening Burglar’ coming out of her house in Coppell

Police finally have the man they believe is connected to a string of burglaries in North Texas.

Corey Lee Caldwell is linked to break-ins in Dallas, Plano and Allen. Friday night police said they caught him red-handed coming out of a home on the 700 block of Villawood Lane in Coppell.

“It’s just crazy to think it’s at my house,” said Patty Mallard. “It was my house where they caught him. From Plano to Coppell to my house.”

Police had the house surrounded Friday night. Caldwell had no idea multiple agencies had tracked him down, watching his every move.

“I’m just thankful I wasn't here,” said Mallard. “Because he would have been in the house right when I came in, because he was in the house when I was there in the alley and the police told me to go away.”

Caldwell thought he was getting away with Mallard’s jewelry and sentimental items, but instead he got a ride to jail.

“That's good that they got him and he can’t do it to anybody else,” said Mallard.
