Kung Fu Instructor Sentenced to Eight Years

Convicted of sexually assaulting a female student in 2004

A Dallas-area kung fu instructor has been sentenced to eight years in prison for sexually assaulting one of his female students in 2004.

Prosecutors in Collin County say 48-year-old Ricky Earl Anderson of Frisco was sentenced Friday by a jury after his conviction on charges of sexual assault of a child and indecency with a child.

Anderson was placed on 10 years' probation and will have to register as a sex offender for life.

Prosecutors say Anderson assaulted the girl at his apartment in the Dallas suburb of Richardson when she was 15. Authorities say the girl reported the assault to police in nearby Garland three years later.

According to court testimony, Anderson had lived or taught kung fu in several Dallas-area cities and Las Vegas in recent years.
