Keller Football Player Shot & Killed

Kevin Washington gunned down at house party.

A North Texas mother is grieving the loss of her only son. Someone shot 18-year-old Kevin Washington at a house party early Sunday filled with more than 100 people.

Cindy Arnold told NBC DFW, her son graduated from Keller Central High School in June and moved down to Charlotte, North Carolina. He planned to attend UNC-Charlotte and study to become a registered nurse.

Police in East Charlotte, Carolina said a fight at a house party escalated and shots were fired, Washington died on the scene.

The 18-year old played for the Keller Central Chargers and was number 15. His mother, who is headed to North Carolina, said he was a running back for the team. She said he was an honor student who never got in any trouble.

Kenya Blandon told NBC affiliate WCNC in Charlotte that she was related to Washington. She described the scene as chaotic.  She believes there were so many people around that eventually the shooter will be identified.

The search for the shooter continues.  

Friends and football teammates are organizing a vigil for Tuesday night.
