Judge to Sentence Naser Abdo

Sentencing is scheduled for 3 p.m.

An AWOL soldier convicted of planning a "massive attack" on a restaurant full of Fort Hood soldiers as part of his religious mission is expected to be sentenced Thursday in Texas federal court.

Army Pfc. Naser Jason Abdo, who planned to make bombs to blow up a restaurant full of Fort Hood soldiers, faces up to life in prison.

Abdo, 22, will represent himself in court, saying during an earlier hearing that he and his attorneys weren't communicating effectively. He was convicted in May on six federal charges, including attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction.

Abdo was AWOL from Fort Campbell, Ky., when he was arrested last summer at a motel near Fort Hood with bomb-making materials.
