Judge Overturns Dallas Officer's Firing

For the first time in several years, a judge has overturned the firing of a Dallas police officer, DallasNews.com reports.

Officer Robert Ramsey was fired last year after an internal investigation found he violated several department policies and used inappropriate force on a driver.  Investigators also said Ramsey issued three citations to a man without his knowledge and inappropriately wrote tickets for infractions that he didn't witness.

This week, Judge Kimberly Lonergan overturned the dismissal and said Ramsey should have only been suspended for 30 days and said that a previous officer's testimony about Ramsey's excessive force allegation lacked integrity.

The judge also ordered that the officer attend department training and sign a last-chance warning letter.
