Judge Accused of Beating to Take Pay Cut

Judge currently suspended pending judicial conduct review

There's a pay cut coming for a South Texas judge suspended after his disabled daughter posted a video online showing him beating her when she was a teenager.

Aransas County commissioners say they're trimming County Court-at-Law Judge William Adams' 2013 salary by 1.6 percent to $144,000.

Other elected county officials will get a 2 percent cost-of-living increase.

Adams' older daughter uploaded the secretly recorded 2004 video to You Tube last year, where it was viewed millions of times. The video shows Adams repeatedly beating his then-16-year-old daughter with a belt for illegally downloading music.

Commissioner Charles Smith tells the Corpus Christi Caller-Times that the Texas Supreme Court suspended Adams with pay in November but he remains in office until the State Commission on Judicial Conduct or voters decide otherwise.
