Irving police said they arrested three people believed to be involved in a burglary ring that has committed crimes across North Texas.
A policeman on patrol spotted a suspicious car in the parking lot of the Homeplace Suites Motel located on the 3900 block of Airport Freeway. When he checked the plates and the vehicle identification number, the officer discovered the license plates were reported stolen in Dallas and the car itself was stolen from Richardson.
The driver of the vehicle, Giovanni Torres, 20, was pulled later over during a traffic stop. Police said he was carrying a BB gun. Torres explained he had taken it away from his girlfriend, Natalie Sanders, 29, because she had threatened to kill herself. Police did a welfare check on Sanders, who was in the motel room with Taren Law, 23.
Police said they discovered a cache of stolen goods including televisions, camcorders, jewelry and other items. All three individuals were arrested.
Police found the driver's license's, credit and debit cards of 43 people.
"You name it as far as identifications. Driver's licenses, credit cards, even a passport. Quite a few pieces that could be used for identity theft," said Officer David Tull, spokesman for the Irving Police Department.
Police believe Sanders and Torres may be connected to burglaries and crimes in Dallas, Richardson, Irving, Flower Mound and Lewisville.
