Irving Day Care Appeals State Investigation

An Irving day care center where a parent said her son was repeatedly bitten is appealing the results of a state investigation on the complaint.

NBC 5 first reported on the Above and Beyond Center for Children on 6th Street in Irving In September.

Parent Nikki Farina said her 1-year-old son Lucas came home from his first day at the child care center with six bite marks.

Among other things, state investigators found that a caregiver was too involved with other kids to notice the bites and that the parent was not properly notified of the injuries. A letter informing the facility of investigation findings said the information must be made available to parents.

Marleigh Meisner with the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services said Above and Beyond is currently in compliance with state rules but that the provider has filed a notice of appeal of the state investigation findings.

Daycare owner Deborah Bailey declined comment Thursday.

Parent Nikki Farina said her son is still having trouble and that she is considering taking legal action.

Additional information about this day care, and all day care center inspection records, is available online.

Below is a copy of the letter sent to the day care.
