Inside The Pavilion at Irving Music Factory

On any given day, you might find more than 1,000 people working to make Irving Music Factory come to life.

The clock is ticking and the project’s developer knows the pressure to finish on time.

“You're always concerned. I think the minute that you lose that concern is the minute that you don't make it. I'm losing sleep every night worried about it,” said Noah Lazes, president of ARK Group.

Lazes worried about weather setbacks.

“Every time it rains, you get a big mud pit that people have to track through and that's a challenge,” he said.

He added extra shifts and said he's confident The Pavilion will be ready to open Labor Day weekend.

On August 31, comedian Dave Chappelle is set to take the stage in front of an audience of up to 8,000 people.

Four-thousand fit inside the air conditioned amphitheater, with seating for 4,000 more outside.

We have one of the first roll up door mechanisms ever installed in a concert hall to open our indoor to the outdoor at the touch of a button,” Lazes said.

The idea -- create a special venue that’s worth visiting regardless of the artist.

Concertgoers will see over-sized concession stands with granite counter tops as well as high-end bars, steps away from their seats.

The developer said you’ll never have to miss a song to buy a drink.

We have bars that flank the main room. Most concert venues don't have that,” Lazes said.

Beyond The Pavilion, there’s a central plaza. More than two dozen restaurants will be there, ranging from Alamo Drafthouse to Gloria's. They will debut about every week through December. All of them have outdoor patios.

There's also a small stage for free events like farmers markets and fashion shows. Soon, video screens will go up to air Dallas Cowboys games.

“We believe that this completes the dream for the urban center in Las Colinas and the city of Irving. It was always a dream there would be a work, live, play environment. They've had the work for a long time,” Lazes said.

There are 45 performances scheduled through the end of 2017. Dave Chappelle's show on September 1 is sold out, but there are tickets still available for his opening day set on August 31. Click HERE for ticket information.
