Hundreds of Flights Canceled Due to Winter Weather

Hundreds of flights headed out of Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport on Sunday have been canceled due to concerns over freezing rain and other winter weather.

In a statement to the media, DFW Airport said 280 departures were canceled Sunday due to the winter weather. The airport said flights not canceled were operating on time and all runways, taxiways, and other airfield surfaces were operational throughout the day.

De-icing operations have been activated for flights out of the airport. The airport said it had pre-treated many surfaces with de-icing materials overnight and into early morning on Sunday.

The airport said it will offer the next update on conditions around 5 p.m. Sunday.
