Hundreds in Austin March to Protest Death in Baltimore

About 200 demonstrators marched and rallied in downtown Austin to protest police brutality after the death of a black man in Baltimore police custody.

The demonstrators closed Congress Avenue Bridge with their numbers Friday, but police blocked them from marching onto Interstate 35 at Sixth Street. The protesters chanted such slogans as "1-2-3-4 Austin stands with Baltimore" and "Our solution -- revolution."

There were no reports of disturbances or arrests.

The demonstration came in response to the death of Freddie Gray, who died after his spine had been severed while in Baltimore police custody. Charges against six officers were announced Friday.
