Houston Airport Worker Dies After 45-Foot Fall

A contract worker at George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston has died after falling about 45 feet from the rail system's elevated tracks.

Houston police said the accident happened Tuesday night as the worker checked the tracks.

Airport spokesman David Hebert on Wednesday said the Bombardier Transportation worker was walking along the line when he fell and that he likely lost his footing.

Hebert said the worker was doing preventative maintenance on the airport's above-ground train system. The worker was dead at the scene near Terminal C.

The name of the worker wasn't immediately released.

A message left with Bombardier Transportation was not immediately returned Wednesday.
