Police arrested a 22-year-old man after they said he followed women into a downtown Dallas apartment building and cut them with a pocket knife.
The suspect, Branden Holbert, approached three women near Main Street and North Ervay Street and accused them of taking pictures of him, according to a Dallas police news release.
Two of them tried to escape by running into an elevator inside The Wilson building, but the doors didn't close in time. Police said Holbert made it inside, where he cut them on the face, arms and shoulders.
The injuries were not life-threatening.
One of the victims ran out of the building, while the other was let in to an apartment unit by a good Samaritan.
"We saw my neighbor, he had blood on his shirt," said Yadira Romancell, who tells NBC 5 it was a man on her floor who tried to help.
Another good Samaritan trapped Holbert behind a door until police arrived and could arrest him. That man, a witness said, was also homeless. He stepped in after seeing what was happening.

Resident Lauren Ward recently moved into The Wilson building. She said she was getting coffee when she learned about the attack.
"The elevator came up and there was blood everywhere, I didn't realize that's what it was at the time," Ward said.
It wasn't until she rode it that she realized what happened inside.
"When I got down to the lobby there were cops everywhere and they said, 'come out, sweetheart, you know it's fine.'"
A mug shot for the suspect was not immediately available. He faces two counts of aggravated assault.
