University of Houston administrators are being criticized for hiring a firm to manage games and events at the school's new $128 million football stadium despite having little experience.

Emails obtained by the Houston Chronicle show a UH vice president disregarded concerns by a UH attorney and others when he signed a five-year contract with two firms operating at the stadium as Sports & Entertainment.

Critics say the firms submitted a bid that didn't conform to the university's request for proposals. They also say Sports & Entertainment never operated a facility as large as the UH stadium or competed in a metro area to book outside events.

Athletic department officials had written to the vice president saying Sports & Entertainment was dismissive and difficult to work with.
