“Hiring Our Heroes” Job Fair at NASJRB Wednesday

Event is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at NAS JRB with two workshops at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.

More than 70 employers will be participating in a Hiring Our Heroes job fair at Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base in Fort Worth Wednesday.

It is estimated that there are currently nearly 1 million unemployed vets and in the next five years, another 1 million vets will be released from active duty, so NBC News has partnered with various groups to launch another job fair aimed at hiring 500,000 veterans and military spouses by the end of 2014.

More than 20,000 local hires have resulted from the Hiring Our Heroes fairs in the past.

The job fair will be held at the NAS JRB Fort Worth Navy Operations Support Center at 1803 Dolittle Ave. on Oct. 23, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The job fair is for veterans, active duty military, guard and reserve members as well as military spouses.

Two workshops will also be held for veterans and other military job seekers that focus on resume writing, tips for successfully navigating job fairs, military skill translation and interviewing. Those Workshops start at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m..

Interested job seekers should register for the event for free.You must register if you do not have a current military ID or you can not get through the gate at NAS JRB. If you do have a military ID you can attend the job fair but registering is still advised.
