Hinojosa to Head GA's Cobb County Schools

The Cobb County school board is expected to meet to officially name the head of the Dallas, Texas, schools as superintendent of Georgia's second largest school district.

The Cobb County board is set to meet at 3 p.m. Sunday to approve a contract for Michael Hinojosa. He will start July 1.

Hinojosa was announced as the lone finalist for the job in May. District officials say Hinojosa will earn $237,000.

Two other major school districts -- Atlanta and DeKalb County -- also are searching for new leaders. Both have said they will have new superintendents in place by July 1.

Hinojosa got his bachelor's degree from Texas Tech University and his doctorate from the University of Texas at Austin.
