Hikers Discover Human Remains in Ellis County Creek Bed

Authorities in Ellis County are investigating after human remains were found Sunday near a dry creek bed in Palmer.

The Ellis County Sheriff’s Office said several hikers located what they believed to be human remains in a wooded area near East Campus Road.

Crime scene investigators confirmed the discovery and collected several pieces of evidence from the scene. The remains were then sent to an anthropology lab at the University of North Texas for identification.

The sheriff's office said the cause of death is unknown, and the investigation is ongoing.
