Fake $50 Bill at Sonic Leads to High-Speed Chase

A high-speed chase involving Mesquite police and a black sedan has ended in Dallas.

The Chevrolet Impala police were after finally pulled over at a gas station parking lot on the corner of Buckner Boulevard and Peavy Road just before 4 p.m. Thursday.

Officers pulled three people out of the car, two females and one male, and handcuffed each of them.

Police said the pursuit started after the suspects tried to use counterfeit money ($50 bill) at a Sonic fast food restaurant in the 2900 block of Motley Drive in Mesquite.

A restaurant employee called police immediately. Once officers arrived, the car sped away.

The chase ended when the driver was forced to pull over because the car was overheating.

The driver is expected to be charged with evading arrest and passing a counterfeit bill. The passenger is expected to be charged with passing a counterfeit bill and fraudulent use or possession of identifying information. The person in the back seat had prior warrants and narcotics on them.
