Helping Dress Big Tex

State Fair icon to get new shirt picked by fans

Big Tex, the official greeter at the State Fair of Texas because he couldn’t cut it at Wal-Mart, maybe, has worn the same yellow-and-blue shirt for three years.

Although most guys would say it’s just getting broken in and comfortable, the big man’s handlers want him to have some new duds for the 125th State Fair of Texas when it opens Sept. 30.

That’s where you come in. Dickies, the official clothier to giants, set up a Facebook page, of course they did, on which fans can vote for one of three new shirt designs for Big Tex. Voting opened today and runs through April 11.

Oh, but there’s a catch. There’s always a catch. Before you can vote you have to mosey over to the Dickies Facebook page and “like” them. Insecurity issues.

Vote and receive a coupon code for 20 percent off normal-human-sized Dickies wear. Tex gets his stuff for free.

Now, if they could just do something about his hair.

Bruce Felps owns and operates East Dallas Times, an online community news outlet serving the White Rock Lake area. He picks out his own shirts, thank you. The boy needs fashion help … among other types of help.
