Hearings to be Held on Deadly SXSW Crash

Public meetings have been scheduled as Austin officials review the 2014 South by Southwest festival after an alleged drunken driving wreck claimed four lives.

The first public hearing begins Monday afternoon. The second hearing is Tuesday. A third hearing will be held May 13.

The hearings at Austin City Hall involve public safety, venues, sound, plus traffic and other issues from the March music, film and interactive festival.

A Killeen man remains in custody facing capital murder and multiple aggravated assault charges over a March 13 traffic accident that left four people dead. Austin police say Rashad Owens was captured after allegedly driving his vehicle into a late-night crowd.

The Austin City Council approved a resolution for an overall evaluation of South by Southwest and to seek recommendations for improvements.
