A North Texas teacher is accused of several incidents of possible indecency with a child, Hurst police say.
Angel Omar Sales, 25, was arrested Aug. 10 at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport by customs authorities and taken into custody of D/FW Airport police.
Sales, a third grade teacher at Bellaire Elementary School, was placed on administrative leave by the Hurst-Euless-Bedford Independent School District when the allegations surfaced on May 21, police said.
Texas Child Protective Services investigated, along with Hurst police, and two probable cause warrants were obtained for indecency with a child/fondling, police said.
Investigators said the alleged incidents may have involved students at Sales' school.
Sales was released after posting $20,000 bond.
Sales is the third HEB educator accused of inappropriate behavior with a child in the last 12 months. In August 2014, junior high teacher Timothy Flasik was arrested and charged with two counts of sexual assault of a child. In July 2015, he pleaded guilty and will be sentenced Aug. 28.
Last month, elementary school principal Oscar Figueroa was charged with soliciting a minor online. Figueroa pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial hearing is set for next month.
Regarding Sales, the HEB ISD released the following statement Tuesday:
