Guilty Verdict in AT&T Stadium Parking Lot Shooting

Jury hands down 20 year sentence

A Tarrant County jury returned a guilty verdict in the murder trial of a man accused of fatally shooting another man in the parking lot outside AT&T Stadium in October of 2015.

Marvin Rodriguez was accused of killing 43-year-old Rick Sells, as Sells was trying to break up a fight in the parking lot after a Cowboys game when he was shot.

Rodriguez was charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

On Friday, the jury handed down a sentence of 20 years in prison.

Sells, of Royse City, died three days after he was taken off life support. He was engaged — his fiancee, pregnant with a little girl was due to give birth a month after the shooting.
