Groups Rally for Annual Kidd's Kids Day

Wednesday is a big day for the crew over at Kidd Kraddick in the Morning: The annual Kidd’s Kids Day.

Kidd's Kids Day is an entire day is dedicated to raising money for their annual trip to Walt Disney World.

This is the 23rd year for the Kidd’s Kids Trip and the 20th year they have gone to Walt Disney World. This year they are taking more kids than ever, so every donation is very important.

“We are taking 60 terminally- and chronically-ill children and their families to Kidd’s Kids this year to Disney World,” said Kidd Kraddick’s daughter Caroline Cradick. “This year is our biggest trip ever.”

Cradick says helping out with Kidd’s Kids Day is very important to her.

“The charity started because of me and my family, so it’s really important that I keep it going,” she said. “I was kind of at a standstill in my life before all this happened with my dad, so it kind of gives me meaning and gives me a reason to wake up every morning, so I am really lucky.”

Families who have gone on past Kidd’s Kids trips were helping out as well on Wednesday.

“We were very fortunate to have that very last trip with (Kidd), so it was special even though we didn’t know how special," said Kidd’s Kids mom Stacy Johnson. "This just has to keep getting bigger, and bigger and bigger.”

Johnson’s seven-year-old son, Ayden, who suffers from a heart condition, went on the trip in 2012. Ayden wanted to help out as well.

“So they can go on the trip and raise money,” said Ayden Johnson.

Cradick said her dad made sure his charity would never stop.

“He talked to me about it,” said Cradick. “He wanted me to take over at some point since I am Kidd’s kid. So yeah, I think he would be really proud of us, and there has been so many people working tirelessly to make sure his legacy continues."

Donations can be made online through the Kidd's Kids website at www.KiddsKids.com, the Southwest Airlines Kidd's Kids Day Donation Hotline at 888-SWA-KIDS (792-5439) 6 a.m.-1 p.m. CST or by texting "KIDD" to "52000" to donate $10.

People may also donate in person Wednesday at nearly 100 participating Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers restaurants nationwide. Raising Cane's will also donate 15 percent of net proceeds from the day's sales at those participating restaurants to Kidd's Kids.
