Grapevine Police Investigate Fatal Officer-Involved Shooting

Police open fire after man shoots shotgun

The Grapevine Police Department is investigating a deadly officer-involved shooting that took place on Thursday.

Officials said a call was placed to 911 at about 2:22 p.m. Thursday regarding a suicidal person. Officers arrived at the home on the 4100 block of Brentwood Circle and blocked off the surrounding area.

A short time later, a man later identified as James Kubera walked outside and started shooting a shotgun.

Police returned fire, hitting Kubera.

Kubera was transported to Baylor Grapevine Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

No officers were injured in the exchange.

The shooting remains under investigation by the Criminal Investigation Division of the Grapevine Police Department.
