Grand Prairie Officer Shot Serving Warrant

A Grand Prairie police officer is recovering after being shot serving a warrant in Arlington Thursday night.

A spokesperson for the Grand Prairie Police Department said the officer, along with the Grand Prairie SWAT team, was serving a felony narcotics warrant to a man at the Forest Ridge Apartments at 2900 Forest Hollow Lane when the shooting occurred.

Investigators said the team was making entry into an apartment when someone inside started shooting.

An officer in the front of the line was hit in the hand. The bullet ricocheted off his finger and hit a portion of his bulletproof vest on his shoulder.

The officer was treated at the scene.

The rest of the SWAT team took the wanted person into custody.

Investigators said he will most likely face charges for trying to shoot and kill a police officer.
