Grand Prairie Man Sexually Abuses Young Relative

A 49-year-old Grand Prairie man was sentenced on Thursday to 60 years in prison for repeatedly sexually abusing a 12-year-old relative.

The Tarrant County District Attorney says in a news release, jurors deliberated on Wednesday for about 10 minutes before convicting Timothy Wesley of continuous sexual abuse of a child under the age of 14. Wesley will not be eligible for parole and he will be 109-years-old before he can be released.

Prosecutors Leticia Martinez and Pamela Boggess said the mother of the young girl discovered in July 2012 that her daughter obtained a phone that Wesley had given to her daughter. The young girl confessed that Wesley would contact her on the cell phone, pick her up at the apartments where she lived and then drive her to a wooded area where he would have sex with her, prosecutors said in a news release.

Later the mother found text messages and nude pictures from Wesley on her daughters phone. The mother contacted police officers and an investigation began. Wesley was later arrested and convicted, said the Tarrant County District Attorney in a new release.

โ€œAlthough Wesley's victim will always live with his ongoing abuse, the jury's swift verdict and Judge Sturns' 60 year sentence have given the victim and her family some measure of peace,โ€said Prosecutor Leticia Martinez. โ€œWesley deserved it.โ€
