Girl Fighting Cancer Brings Cheer To Fellow Patients

It's the most wonderful time of the year for many, but Sadie Keller knows this Christmas will be anything but joyous for some.

The 8-year-old Sadie has spent much of her year in the hospital fighting leukemia.

"It's scary a lot and you just want to go home and you're tired," she said. "The beds aren't that comfy."

Worried Santa Claus might forget her friends at Children's Medical Center Dallas, Sadie had an idea. And, like she's done before, she took to YouTube to share her message.

"There's going to be a lot of kids in the hospital on Christmas morning," Sadie said a video she posted online. "And if I was in the hospital on Christmas morning, I would be sad. So, I want you guys to help me do a toy drive."

Within a few days of sharing her message, Sadie had collected more than 300 toys for children who cannot leave the hospital.

"We're completely overwhelmed with the people that have reached out from all over," Sadie's mother Sarah Keller said.

Each week, Sadie gets to play Santa. Her mom takes her to the store to fill her "sleigh" with the perfect toys for patients using money people donated.

"It's definitely therapeutic for her and keeps her mind of what's coming the next day or later that week," Sarah said.

Sadie's own cancer fight is far from over. She still has two years left of cancer treatment, but, for now, she's home and only concerned about spreading Christmas cheer to those who are not. [[360936861,C]]
