Girl Battling Cancer Receives Incredible Gift

Now in remission, an 8-year-old girl from Keller battling Leukemia and Down syndrome got a big surprise– the room of her dreams.

In the past two years she has spent as much time in the hospital as she has at home, but this weekend, nonprofit "Sunshine Spaces" stepped in to fulfill a wish.

"We come here to bless these families and it's emotional for us. We get blessed," said Erica Jones from Sunshine Spaces.

For Emme's wish, it was a custom, Doctor Seuss-themed bedroom that awaited her Sunday morning.

Emme's siblings, Kenzie and Austin, are getting the royal treatment, too. They had no clue they were all getting a new karaoke room.

More than 40 volunteers worked through the weekend to make the makeover happen. It is the fourth home Sunshine Spaces has renovated for children battling serious illness.

"This has just been beyond anything that we could expect," said Vicki Garrett, Emme's mother.

The family hopes Emme will be finished with chemotherapy in early 2016.
