Get the Champagne Ready for New Year's Eve

It’s a big week for bubbly as Dallas gets ready to ring in a new year. And, in the transition into 2015 something old is trending new again: champagne.

“It seems to be going back to the original to champagne from France,” said Benjamin Madrid, with Max’s Wine Dive in Dallas.

“Champagne has been around for about 500 years and the Benedictine monks did something really, really nice,” Madrid said, “It’s interesting to note it was created by accident, and it was also known at one point as the devils of wine because so many bottles were popping just due to the wrong corkage before we got the caps on there.”

Madrid said champagne is best served chilled between 43 and 47 degrees, and don't store it in the freezer.

In addition, Madrid said while champagne flutes are beautiful and festive, champagne can breathe better and is best served in a white wine glass.
