Police End Search for Driver After Motorcycle Pursuit

Garland police and Texas Department of Public Safety State Troopers have ended a search for the driver of a motorcycle involved in a chase Friday morning.

Officials said the chase began after an attempted traffic stop.  The man refused to pull over and, while trying to escape, crashed along eastbound state Highway 190/President George Bush Turnpike and state Highway 78.

The man was seen running away from the wrecked motorcycle and, as of this writing, has not been located.

Trooper Lonny Haschel with the Texas Department of Public Safety said the search for the man lasted around two hours and included DPS' Air One helicopter, K-9 units and assistance from other agencies.

Haschel said they believe they know the identity of the man and are planning to make an arrest at a later time.
