The city of Garland is changing the Stage 3 watering schedule due to unexpected peak demand.
Effective immediately, all customers will be permitted to water only once per week, based on their residential trash pickup schedule. Customers were previously watering on Saturday only -- that is now no longer in effect.
Garland businesses will base their watering day on the residential schedule at their specific location(s).
The city added that any customer who had received a variance is allowed to continue watering under the terms of that variance.
“Garland Water Utilities appreciates its customers' efforts in conserving water. Through their diligence, we have successfully met our reduction goals,” said John Baker, managing director, in a news release Monday. “We apologize for any inconvenience this change may cause, but it is necessary to assure system reliability during high demands."
