Gallagher Purple Ribbon Campaign Could Expand

Tips have dramatically slowed, police say

The organizer of a ribbon campaign to remember a slain Saginaw 6-year-old wants to expand the effort.

Teenagers found Alanna Gallagher's body on a residential street under a tarp about a mile from her home on July 1. Since her death, Saginaw residents have put up purple ribbons to show support.

Purple was Gallagher's favorite color.

"I think the ribbons were a great idea last week, but now let's take it a step further and put it on our cars," Rachel Monk said. "Let's let this person, whoever it is, know that we are looking and we're not going to stop until we get justice."

Monk, a mother of two, has also created the Facebook page Justice for Alanna.

Tips in the case have dramatically slowed, police say. No arrests have been made.

Saginaw residents say they have a new level of fear.

"Now you're wondering, 'Can I let my kid out of the house, out of the front yard?" Mike Harris said.

Gallagher's family declined on Wednesday to comment on the case.

Police are looking for a red truck that may have been in the area at the time Gallagher's body was discovered. The truck had a green splotch of paint on its back side.

The FBI is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the identification, arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible for Gallagher's death.
